Blended Learning Implementation: Developing Writing Skills Through RACE, Grammar, and Typing

This blended learning implementation focuses on helping 3rd-grade students develop strong writing skills by using the RACE strategy, proper grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, and improving their typing proficiency. By integrating online tools, collaborative peer activities, and a competency-based and outcome-based approach, students will engage in meaningful learning experiences that promote critical thinking, self-assessment, and deeper learning. This plan ensures that students progress at their own pace while mastering essential writing skills in a structured and supportive environment. There are 2 key documents that will influence my design process which are, the implementation outline and Fink’s 3-Column Table. I will also be ensuring alignment to the Texas state standards (TEKS). These documents will ensure that the instructional approach is structured, goal-oriented, and meets required academic expectations.

Fink's 3 Column Table

I will use Fink’s 3-Column Table to guide my implementation of blended learning by ensuring that my instructional design is structured, goal-oriented, and aligned with meaningful learning experiences. The table helps me clearly define learning objectives, activities, and assessments, ensuring that students engage in a well-rounded learning process.

Implementation Outline for Blended Learning

This implementation outline provides a structured plan for teaching 3rd-grade writing through a blended learning approach that integrates both Competency-Based Education (CBE) and Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Students will develop their writing skills by mastering the RACE strategy, grammar, punctuation, and typing through a combination of interactive digital tools, collaborative activities, and self-assessment opportunities. The course schedule outlines weekly objectives, activities, and assessments, ensuring that students progress at their own pace while meeting clear learning outcomes. Using Fink’s 3-Column Table, this plan fosters deep learning, student engagement, and skill development, helping learners build confidence in their writing and communication abilities.
